It started with a wet towel.
Not a vision. Not a business plan. Not a gap in the market. A wet towel. The kind that's been passed around all day, soaked through before it reaches you, and somehow leaves you wetter than the sea did. That's Shammy's version of the story at least.
But the actual problem is, I'm just tired of wet towels. Think about what actually happens to a regular towel at the beach. You go in the water. You come out and dry off. You go back in. You come out again. You dry off again, except this time the towel is already half soaked from the first use. You go in a third time. By now the towel isn't drying anything. It's just moving water from your body onto itself, which is already full of water, which means it's moving the water right back onto you. You are essentially wetter after using the towel than before.
Then you walk to the car. You sit on the towel to protect the seat. But the towel is completely saturated with sea water, salt, sand, everything, so now your car seat is getting soaked with sea water instead of just being slightly damp from you. You drive home. You shower. You reach for the towel to dry yourself. It smells like the sea, it's still damp, it's full of salt water, and it dries nothing. You stand there dripping in your bathroom wondering why this object that exists specifically to dry people has never once in its life actually dried anyone properly.
This is the towel. This is what everyone has accepted. This is what Shammy refused to accept.
He decided it was the towel's fault. So he fixed it.
What Shamz is
Shamz is a lifestyle brand built around one idea: ordinary things deserve better design, better stories, and more personality. The towel was just the beginning.
The first product is a high-performance PVA chamois towel, ultra-absorbent, fast-drying, featherlight, and compact enough to wrap around your wrist and wear into the sea. It absorbs up to 10x its own weight in water and dries in seconds when wrung out. You come out of the water, you dry off, you wring it out, and it is ready to go again before you have even decided whether to go back in. Every single session. As many times as you need. No accumulation of sea water. No soggy car seat. No useless shower towel at the end of the day.
Every single towel is hand tie-dyed in one of six original designs, meaning no two are identical. Yours is yours. Nobody else's looks exactly like it.
It is not a beach accessory. It is not a souvenir. It is a better version of something everyone already uses, made to look like nothing else on the sand.
Where it comes from
Born in Egypt. Built for the North Coast. Shamz exists in the world of Sahel summers, Mediterranean mornings, and the specific kind of chaos that happens when a group of friends shares one towel between twelve people across an entire beach day.
The name comes from the Arabic word for sun — شمس. It's where the brand was born, what powers the North Coast every summer, and what every Shamz towel is made under.
Est. 2026. Drop 01. This is just the beginning.
How it's made
Every Shamz towel starts as a raw PVA chamois, flat, blank, and full of potential. Shammy folds it, ties it, and submerges it in dye. The folding technique determines the pattern. The dye does the rest. When it comes out and gets unwrapped, the result is always slightly different from what was expected. That's not a quality control issue. That's the whole point.
Six designs. Six completely different outcomes every single time they're made. Bullseye. Checkmate. Tanlines. Swirly Swirls. Sunlight. Colorful Mess. Each one named after exactly what it looks like. Each one hand-dyed individually. Each one a one-off.
Who Shammy is
Shammy is the face of the brand and the reason it exists. He shows up to the beach in an all-white outfit, white bucket hat, white medical mask, white round sunglasses and a white linen shirt. Why you may ask? That represents a blanks canvas, a potential of something creative left empty. Shammy also has paint-covered hands that represents creativity, because creativity always comes through creation with the hands, they are the tools that make beautiful things in life. He doesn't explain himself.
What's next
The towel is chapter one. Shamz was never just a towel brand, it's a brand that takes ordinary things and makes them impossible to ignore. The drop model, the limited quantities, the Golden Ticket in selected orders, all of it is building toward something bigger.
For now: six designs, two sizes, one drop. When they're gone, they're gone.
Dry Different.
